GOGBOT is een vierdaags festival  op het gebied van kunst, technologie, media en muziek, dat plaatsvindt op 10 locaties in Enschede. Het festival is op de meeste locaties GRATIS TOEGANKELIJK. GOGBOT 2010 vindt plaats 9 tm 12 september.

Het thema voor 2009 is ATOMPUNK ('45-'65 cold war modernism). Dit concept is evenals Steampunk ontwikkeld ism de Amerikaanse science fiction schrijver en design-goeroe Bruce Sterling. Het is een volledig nieuw thema dat we hebben ontwikkeld op onze atomunk mailinglist samen met ruim 200 ontwerpers, schrijvers, denkers, architecten, technici, kunstenaars etc.

Vier dagen lang kan je onderdeel zijn van dit multi media art music en technologie spektakel. Interactieve robots, een autonome raketlancering, nucleaire tests, gepunkt space-design, ufo's, superheroes, drive-ins, onvoorspelbare professoren, en natuurlijk een uitgebreid muziekprogramma. Op de voorlopige line-up staan Alec Empire, Huoratron, Bonaparte, Otto von Schirach, Caspa, en vele anderen... ATOMPUNK
ATOMPUNK grijpt vanuit het heden  terug op de culturele periode 1945 tot 1965, uitlopend op de val van het IJzeren Gordijn. ATOMPUNK laat zien wat kunstenaars, designers en architecten NU doen met verworvenheden uit de eerste decennia van het atoomtijdperk. Het betreft een Retro-futuristische benadering van vooral kunst en design, maar ook van sociaal-politieke ideologie. ATOMPUNK grijpt terug op een strict pre-digitale periode, inclusief het modernisme uit het midden van de 20e eeuw: het atoomtijdperk, de space-age, de koude oorlog, communisme, communistische paranoia. Sterling:”Communist analog atompunk is an ultimate lost world”.
Voor de festival editie van 2008 introduceerde Sterling het thema Steampunk in Nederland. Steampunk was een reeds bestaand fenomeen, vooral populair in de VS,  waarbij hedendaagse technologie vermengd wordt met technologie uit de periode toen stoom nog een primaire energiebron was.

Voor ontwikkeling van het thema Atompunk worden hedendaagse kunstenaars, vormgevers, muzikanten, filmers, schrijvers en denkers uitgenodigd om vanuit het heden en de toekomst gebruik te maken van elementen uit de betreffende culturele periode. Teruggrijpend op kunst, architectuur, populaire media, en vooral de maatschappelijke ontwikkelingen in het kader van de koude oorlog, de wapenwedloop, en de race in de ruimte.

The nuclear disaster in Tsjernobyl, the fall of the Berlin wall, the nuclear threat of North-Korea, the armed peace between East and West, the first ever landing on the moon; these are only parts of the Atompunk-theme of the GOGBOT festival, that takes place in 10 locations in the center of Enschede, in September. The festival has a free entrance. The festival that has known 15.000 visitors with the 2008 Steampunk-edition, is an initiative of PLANETART, organization of the Multi-media art, and sci-fi guru/cyberpunk godfather Bruce Sterling. Especially for the GOGBOT festival, several themes have been developed, based on the technological and industrial innovation starting from 1945. The GOGBOT festival offers more than 200 multi media artists, musicians, designers, writers, thinkers, architects, scientists and “techies” a platform to present themselves to the public, who will be overwhelmed with Sputniks, the first satellites, Soviet Cosmonauts, communist design, interactive robots, an autonomous rocket-launch, nuclear testing, space design, ufo’s, superheroes, drive-ins, unpredictable professors and Sexy Soviet art!
